Join Us! Why We Support the Covenant Fund
New Covenant School Families,
We’re Jay and Amy Bruce, and it’s a privilege to serve as this year’s parent chairs for the Covenant Fund. Like many of you, we’ve spent a lot of time considering a simple but meaningful question: What is the purpose of education?
When we came to NCS eight years ago, our approach was mostly practical. We wanted a Christian school where our kids could grow and thrive. But over time, the Lord has refined our perspective. We began thinking more intentionally about the end goal of education. For us, it became clear: we want our children to grow in both knowledge and virtue, so they can use their God-given gifts for His glory.
Research from the Barna Group shows a child’s worldview is mostly formed by age 13. That’s a sobering thought, but we’ve never felt alone in the work of shaping our children’s hearts. One of NCS’s greatest gifts is its partnership with families, reinforcing the biblical worldview our children are learning at home and church.
Over the years, we’ve seen the fruits of this mission in countless ways. From morning drop-offs where our children are greeted by name, to Gospel-centered chapels, to teachers who love what they do, our children have been both encouraged and challenged. They’ve developed perseverance through academics, stretched their imaginations through good literature, and grown through relationships that span different grade levels. They’ve memorized Scripture, worshipped through song, served others, and built lasting friendships. These moments are shaping not just our children, but us as parents, too.
We’ve also seen how NCS’s Portrait of a Graduate aligns with our deepest hopes for our children: Christ-like character, wisdom, knowledge, eloquence, and balance. These aren’t just nice ideas. They’re rooted in Scripture and woven into every part of the school’s culture. It’s reflected in how teachers lead, how students learn, and how school leadership seeks the Lord’s wisdom in prayerful, humble decision-making.
Yes, like any small private school, NCS faces challenges. But those challenges have only deepened our appreciation for the mission of the school to make every student complete in Christ. The Covenant Fund plays a vital role in sustaining that mission. Giving to the Covenant Fund is one way we can help keep this vision strong for current and future families.
When our family faces big decisions, we often ask: Will this matter in light of eternity? That question keeps bringing us back to NCS. This school is helping shape our children not just for college or careers, but for lives of faithful obedience to Jesus. And while there’s no formula that guarantees our children will walk with the Lord, we believe placing them in a Christ-centered environment is one of the most faithful steps we can take.
Supporting this community requires financial sacrifice, but it’s one of the most meaningful investments we can make. That’s why we give, not because we have to, but because we truly believe in what God is doing here.
If your vision for your children aligns with the heart of NCS, we invite you to join us by continuing to entrust your children here, by sharing the story of this school with others, and by giving to the Covenant Fund in whatever way you’re able. This isn’t just about education. It’s about shaping lives for eternal impact.
