Theater

The fine arts department is dedicated to nurturing future storytellers through the performing arts. We uphold a high standard of excellence, aiming not only to entertain our audiences but also to provide enriching experiences for our students.

Our curriculum includes a diverse range of classic and contemporary plays and musicals, allowing students to engage deeply with narratives that reflect life's most significant stories.

Visual Arts

As a Christian institution, we acknowledge God as the ultimate Creator and believe that every person, being made in God's image (Imago Dei), is inherently endowed with creativity. At New Covenant, we cultivate this unique gift through a combination of appreciation and creation.

Unlike many other schools that view art primarily as a form of self-expression, we have developed an immersive learning environment where students explore creative masterpieces from a Christian perspective. This approach helps them grasp the emotional and intellectual depth of artistic works while enhancing their own skills and aesthetic discernment. Additionally, our students receive practical training in various art forms, enabling them to create their own masterpieces.

Music

At New Covenant, we prioritize music education from PreK through 12th grade, with a curriculum designed to cultivate an appreciation for Western Art music. We focus on musical literacy, hymn studies, and historical context. Students begin their musical journey by developing an ability to discern musical ideas through attentive listening, and we emphasize the development of their singing skills and familiarity with musical notation.

Our curriculum includes a rich variety of folk songs, classical compositions from the 16th to 20th centuries, and Christian hymns. Students engage in activities like a monthly hymn study, quarterly Listening Journals, sight-singing, rhythm dictation, singing games, and movement exercises, all of which are supported by classwork that builds on the musical concepts learned throughout their time at New Covenant.

As students advance, they join our choir, performing in multiple concerts each year. This experience allows them to further refine their singing and choral techniques, including proper vowel and consonant production, breathing techniques, expressiveness, and choral repertoire.

We believe that music education should extend beyond the classroom. To that end, we encourage parents to expose their children to classical music at home by providing playlists of each quarter's featured composer. This helps students gain a deeper appreciation for the different musical eras and composers studied in class, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the fine arts in line with New Covenant's mission as a classical school.
