Welcome to Third Grade, Mrs. Canney!

Melissa is no stranger to NCS!  She and her family moved to Anderson 11 years ago to be a part of what the Lord was doing here.  

Melissa attended Malone University in Canton, OH and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education much longer ago than she likes to admit.  She married Joe in 2004.  After teaching in the government schools in OH and NC, she and Joe moved to NJ to start a Classical Christian school.  It was in NJ that her love and commitment to classical, Christian education grew and flourished.  Joe and Melissa have 5 amazing children who have all been at NCS since they arrived in 2012.

In the 11 years since arriving in Anderson, Melissa has been a devoted wife and mother and has been serving New Covenant Church as Children’s Ministry Director since 2014.  Now that all 5 of the children are full time students, she is thrilled to accept God’s call and re-enter the classroom!  Third grade has always been her favorite and she looks forward to shepherding the hearts of those that will be in her care this year!
