Cross Country

New Covenant School recently completed its first Cross Country season, and what a season it was!

The team began training for meets beginning in early August. It was a very hot and humid late summer and early fall, and the young Cavaliers had a big challenge in front of them. However, they trained hard and smart, continuing to get in better shape.

The season began with a trip to Oconee Christian School to compete in a meet with two other schools. As the first meet for New Covenant School and the first meet of the season, there was no way to know what to expect. However both the boys and the girls team ran smart, and each team came in first place!

The season continued with the runners traveling to Spartanburg to compete in the Eye Opener Invitational. This was an invitational in which thousands of runners from across the State and Region competed. Some of the biggest schools and the fastest runners in the region were represented. NCS did a fantastic job, and got to experience a big Cross Country invitational.

The season continued with the New Covenant School athletes competing in various meets. They continued to improve and run faster times. The season concluded with NCS traveling to Fort Mill to compete in the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools (SCACS) State Meet. The kids ran their best meet of the year, and well over half the team ran their personal best in this race. Both teams finished fourth in the state and freshman Gabe Miller finished third overall in the boys race!

At the conclusion of the season senior Rebecca Lamb and senior Reese Miller were named MVP’s of the girl’s and the boy’s teams.
