Update – Facebook Dress Down Day Challenge

Wow!  What an amazing response!  We were hoping for 17 more ‘likes’ and instead we are at 83 and counting!  Thanks to everyone who accepted the challenge and ‘liked’ or ‘shared’ our page!  We appreciate it!

And to show our appreciation, this Wednesday, April 9th will be a dress down day.  The dress code for the day will be casual. Students are allowed to wear jeans, t-shirts, shorts, etc…

A few key pointers…as always, our Modesty Code is still in place.  =)  Students are encouraged to be modest in their outfits. Additionally, we ask that Lower School students still have appropriate footwear (tennis shoes) for recess.  Also for students that have PE on Wednesday, they also need to be dressed correctly for it.

Again, thank you to all who ‘Like’ us!

Faculty Announcements for 2014-2015

The 2014-2015 New Covenant School faculty is nearly finalized.  Here are some of the changes…

Our kindergaImagerten teacher, Ms. Jennifer Hooks, is soon to be Mrs. Jennifer Epps and we are extremely excited for her!  However, after her wedding she will be relocating to Travelers Rest thus she will be moving on from New Covenant School.  We are sad to see her go but excited for what the Lord is doing in her life.

The Lord has provided us with our next kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Christine Andreasen. Mrs. Andreasen has her Bachelor of Science from Indiana University in Elementary Education and her Masters of Science from Indiana University in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education.  She is licensed to teach elementary and early childhood grades in the state of South Carolina.  She has taught kindergarten for six years teaching with five of them being at New Covenant School.  She has also taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.  Mrs. Andreasen loves children, reading, exercising, and spending time with her family, which includes her husband Steve, a deacon at New Covenant Church, and two children Ben and Emily.  Welcome Mrs. Andreasen!

Mr. Mike Huguet sadly will not be returning to NCS next school year.  The New Covenant School Board has made the decision to combine for 4th and 5th grades for part of the day next year, so Mr. Huguet will be moving on from us.  He has been a great teacher here for 3 years and we will miss him greatly.

Mrs. Kim Roh, our current 4th grade teacher, will be teaching 4th and 5th grades for part of the school day next year.  There will be an additional faculty member assisting with 4th and 5th grade math, reading and writing to make sure the students receive the skill instruction they need.

Mrs. Green, who was recently married, will be relocating with her husband, thus she will not be returning to New Covenant School next year. She will be missed and where ever she next teaches will be truly blessed to have her!

Mrs. Angie Harmon will be a full time teacher and High School guidance counselor at NCS for the 2014-2015 school year.  Mrs. Harmon was part time faculty this year but next year will be teaching middle school history, middle school Latin, Upper School electives and remaining as our guidance counselor!

Finally, Miss Kaitlyn Webb, soon to be Mrs. Kaitlyn Rountree, will continue as our 2 year teacher in the preschool and she will be our kindergarten through 5th grade art teacher.  Additionally, Miss Webb will be coordinating our first ever After School Program for children who cannot be picked up at 2:45.  We plan to run the program until at least 5:30 each day.

The Lord continues to abundantly bless and provide for New Covenant School!  To Him be glory and praise!
