16473436_10210751235310467_2290554664959679611_nNew Covenant School is excited to add Mrs. Megan Bates to our staff (again!) as our Music teacher!

Mrs. Bates is originally from Spartanburg, SC. She began playing the violin at age 10 and attended Spartanburg High School where she was very active in the Symphony Orchestra. She went on to graduate with a degree in Music Education from Converse College.

After college, Mrs. Bates taught strings at Pickens Middle School for six years. She now lives in Anderson with her husband, Bryan and three children, Caleb (10), Nathan (7), and Lily (4). Lily is in K4 at our Preschool!

The Bates’ attend High Praises Church, where they currently serve on the youth staff and music department. Mrs. Bates is also a member of the Anderson Symphony Orchestra.

Mrs. Bates has previously taught music for our Preschool and Grammar School.  She is excited to be a part of the New Covenant faculty again! Please join us in welcoming her back!

Faculty Update, K2

19260541_105632920081382_7498038204880054726_nNew Covenant School is blessed to announce that we have hired Mrs. Nicole Dunn to teach our 2 year old class.

Mrs. Dunn was born and raised in Charleston, SC. After graduating from high school in 2005, she went to Anderson College where she played soccer before transferring to New Mexico State University. At NMSU she earned her undergraduate and Masters degrees in Special Education in 2011. While living in New Mexico she met her husband, Perry, and after getting married they moved to Portland, Oregon where she was a middle school special education teacher and assistant track coach while Perry was in Physical Therapy school.

The Lord brought their family back to Anderson in 2014 and they feel so blessed to live here! They have two fun and energetic boys who will attend New Covenant, Tate (K4) and Cooper (K2). In her spare time she loves to run and crochet. Nicole is so excited to join the New Covenant staff! Please join us in welcoming her!

Faculty Update, 4th Grade

FullSizeRender (1)New Covenant School is blessed to announce that Mr. Mike Huguet has been hired to teach 4th grade for the up coming school year. Mr. Huguet will be familiar to many in the NCS family, as he previously taught 5th grade for us.

Mr. Huguet grew up in Louisiana, but has lived in the Upstate for 14 of the last 16 years. Mr. Huguet comes back to NCS having previously completed a B.S. in Human Resource Development and two Master’s degrees in Education from Bob Jones University. It was during graduate school that he met his wife, Beka. Mr. and Mrs. Huguet have two sons, Reagan (4) and Alexander (born in 2016).

Mr. Huguet has four years of classroom experience, teaching both 5th and 6th grades. For the last three years he has been employed at BJU Press and has worked on producing three distance learning courses, both on and off camera.

Mike serves as a deacon at Concord Community Church and teaches regularly there. He enjoys reading, playing guitar, being outdoors, and swimming with his family. He also loves to cook Cajun food for his family. Mr. Huguet is excited to return to New Covenant School to help students love to learn.

Faculty Update, Upper School PE

Lauren Hege PhotoNew Covenant School is honored and blessed to announce that Mrs. Lauren Hege has been hired to teach middle school and freshman PE!

Lauren is a native of High Point, NC, where she was privileged to attend and graduate from a private Christian school. The faithful example of her teachers and family helped lead her to accept Christ into her life in the sixth grade. 

After high school, Lauren attended Southern Wesleyan University. A four-year starting middle hitter on the women’s volleyball team, Lauren earned All-Conference honors during her senior season. She graduated in 2003 with a double major in Physical Education (concentration in Exercise Science) and Recreation Administration.

Following graduation, Lauren managed a fitness center and worked as a personal trainer for several years before becoming a middle school PE teacher in Yulee, FL. While teaching, she served as the staff Wellness Champion, head coach of the middle school girls’ volleyball team, and head coach of the Yulee Sunsetters club volleyball team.

Lauren and her husband, Nathan, moved to Anderson in 2012. They have two children who attend New Covenant; Brooklyn (kindergarten) and Blaine (K2).

Faculty Update, PE

image1New Covenant School is excited to announce that we have hired Mrs. Kim Shore to serve as our Grammar School (K5-5th grade) PE teacher!

Mrs. Shore grew up in Anderson and graduated as the valedictorian of her class from McDuffie High School. She went to college at Clemson University where she graduated summa cum laude in 1998. Also in 1998 she married her high school sweetheart, Chris.

Kim graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with a Masters in Rehab Science/Physical Therapy in 2000 and has worked in the pediatric field of therapy since. Mrs. Shore felt a calling to teaching in 2008 and completed course work at Anderson University to receive her teaching certificate for Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 2009.

Coach Shore is excited to join the New Covenant staff so that she can use both her teaching experience along with her gross motor skills training to help kids learn and love physical activity!

Mr. and Mrs. Shore have three children; Keifer (15), Carley (12), and Katey (6). As a family they love Clemson sports, playing sports (volleyball is Kim’s favorite), spending time on the lake, and spending time at church.
