New Covenant School is blessed to announce our recent hiring of Mrs. Jean Smalley to teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Latin.

Mrs. Smalley was born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina . She earned a BS in Science from Mars Hill University and went on to earn a Masters in Nutrition at the University of Tennessee. For several years she worked as a Registered Dietitian for a large Florida Hospital and later for Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.  She was also employed by the Marriott Corporation as a traveling troubleshooter in their healthcare division.
For the last nineteen years she was a teacher at Covenant Academy in Macon, Georgia, where she taught Latin in fourth through eighth grades and developed the Latin curriculum currently being used there.
Mrs. Smalley is married to her husband Bill and they will soon be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary!  They have two grown children Ashley (who lives in Anderson) and William (who lives in Little Rock, Arkansas ) and four grandchildren. Two of the grandchildren, Hazel and John Hobbs attend New Covenant School. Mrs. Smalley is also active in her church (Living Hope) and is a group leader with Bible Study Fellowship.
