The Student Council is comprised of Junior and Seniors who meet weekly with Mr. Canney to discuss and plan activities for the student body. This includes planning school wide dress down days, Homecoming Spirit Week, the Homecoming Dance, Winter Ball, and Prom. Additionally the Student Council plans Upper School parties for Holidays such as Christmas and Easter and provides service opportunities for NCS students to be involved in the community.
New Covenant Preschool is excited to announce the newest addition to our Preschool Faculty; Mrs. Stephanie Canter is now our Preschool Aide. Mrs. Canter is excited to join New Covenant School’s preschool staff. She has been praying that the Lord would open a door for a part-time job that would allow her to work with children, yet still be with her own children at home. She is very thankful for the opportunity that God has provided for her through this position at New Covenant School. Her goal is to honor the Lord with her strengths and talents and to bless all those she comes in contact with. New Covenant will always have a special place in her heart because her children attended preschool here.
She grew up in Anderson and still calls it home. She attended Clemson University and Anderson University, and is currently working on her master’s with Liberty University. Her and her husband, Giles, have been married for almost 16 years and have two children, Kara Lee (12) and Kinsley Kate (9). She has mainly been a stay-at-home mom, but has been involved with education and children on a volunteer basis throughout the past 10 years and currently continues to tutor and mentor students. She is passionate about education and loves working with children and helping them reach their full potential. Also during the past 10 years, she started her own children’s clothing business named Aunt Polly’s, LLC. Although the business ended two years ago, one of her hobbies is definitely entrepreneurship! She and her girls love to do crafts and art together, they also love reading and playing sports. When the whole family is together they enjoy the outdoors, watching football and Shark Tank; they are constantly dreaming up new businesses (yes, even the 9 year old :)!
She looks forward to getting to know everyone and helping this school year. Make sure to give Mrs. Canter a warm New Covenant School welcome when you see her in the hallway!
Last week, the preschool and lower school had a fun time dressing-up in their favorite costumes and going to Anderson Place (Assisted Living Facilities located behind our school) for treats for our Reformation Celebration. We started our morning with chapel together; our guest speaker was Mrs. Patti Rountree. Then we went to Anderson Place with our Buddy Classes (K2 with 1st grade, K3 with 2nd grade, K4 with 3rd grade & K5 with 4th & 5th grade). Such a great way to love our neighbor!! Enjoy the pictures below of our students in their costumes!…Hope you can tolerate all the cuteness. 🙂
This past Friday New Covenant School staff participated in a Kiss the Pig contest as part of the Feed the Need Fundraiser! If a class had 100% attendance at the Feed the Need Kickoff, their teacher had to kiss a pig! And for each teacher that had to kiss a pig, Mr. Canney did too! So all in all, 5 teachers had to smooch the swine meaning Mr. Canney had to lay a wet one on the oinker 5 times too!
New Covenant School is well on its way to raising $35,000 through Feed the Need with over $11,000 in donations as of 11/3! On November 21st, NCS students will be packing 10,000 meals!
